We take great pride in what we do and are passionate about our pub!

Having held a License since 1840 The Elizabethan has been trading for nearly 200 years. Originally called the
Prince Albert the pub was renamed in 1952 in honour of our late Queen’s succession to the throne.

Since 2002 Nick Powell and Anne Gibbs have been the proprietors of this lovely traditional Devon pub.
Twenty years on they together with their loyal  team still work hard to provide great food, drink and service

in a friendly hospitable environment.

Known locally as “The Lizzie” many guests from the surrounding area have enjoyed themselves in one of the few remaining free houses whether it be enjoying a special family celebration in the restaurant or a drink in the bar.

The owners, Anne Gibbs and head chef Nick Powell, have produced truly tempting menus for you to choose from at their pub and restaurant just outside Newton Abbot and Teignmouth. Both à la carte and set menus are on offer which change regularly featuring fish, game, meat and vegetarian dishes all sourced locally within South Devon where possible.

Many of our dishes are “traditional classics” with an extra touch of class to excite the palate, whilst others feature good quality country pub fayre.

The bar area is a great place where you can relax and enjoy one of the very popular lite bite dishes. There is an extensive selection of fine wines and real ales which have been carefully chosen to complement the food on offer. The Bar area is also the home of The Elizabethan Formula One Club known as Efoc! The club meet regularly over a pint to keep up with the latest news in the paddock!

Alternatively, enjoy a drink in the well kept and pretty beer garden – the perfect place to enjoy a hot summers afternoon. We’re also dog friendly outside and in the bar area but please advise us when booking a table.

Highly noted for its food and ales by the Good Pub Guide, The Elizabethan Inn is definitely a place worth visiting if you’re looking for country pubs near Newton Abbot or Teignmouth.
